“The winner of this year's BioRiver Boost! The competition for biotech and life science founders is called Lumatix Biotech GmbH. With its light-controlled antibody purification, the founding company from Garching near Munich won first place and was thus voted the most promising start-up in 2022. BioThrust and Vivalyx, both based in Aachen, were delighted to take second and third places.

On September 29, 2022, the annual European start-up competition BioRiver Boost honored for the ninth time in a row! select the three best young companies. The top-class jury of experts presented the prizes after short presentations and subsequent expert discussions. The successful event took place at the headquarters of this year's host, QIAGEN GmbH, and was broadcasted live. The three winning teams will receive individually tailored coaching from experienced entrepreneurs, marketing support from experts and access to the BioRiver network with the best business contacts.

For the BioRiver Boost start-up competition! Very young companies can apply that develop disruptive and innovative technologies or services for the biotechnology or life science sector. The finalists are selected based on fixed evaluation criteria, such as customer benefits and the degree of innovation of the technology, as well as the experience of the team and the business concept. In a two-stage process, the jury first selects the eight finalists from all applications, who then present themselves in the form of an “elevator pitch” on the actual day of the competition and answer questions from the experts.”
